Chapter 32: Chains in the Open

The heavy oak doors creaked open with an unsettling stillness, as if the silence itself were trying to hold back the morning. Aanya stepped out, her fingers gently trailing along the carved marble banister as she descended the stairs of the mansion Raaz now called “home” for them both. Her dupatta slipped slightly from her shoulder, but she didn’t care. Not today.

Raaz was waiting in the main hall, dressed in an ivory kurta with gold embroidery that caught the light in flashes. Yash stood a few feet behind him, his face expressionless, but his eyes alert. Two guards flanked the door. Even the air here felt surveilled.
